The first 30 days after launch: measure before optimising

Without useful signals, improvement is guesswork. Here is the observability foundation that gives a product team direction.

01

Make failures findable

A user should not have to know why something failed. The team does. Capture the context needed to reproduce and understand a failure.

Successful requests matter too: they show where the product is actually used and which paths deserve attention.

02

Measure the journey, not only the server

Technische metingen tell you whether a system is running. Product signals tell you whether the work succeeds: a form completes, a case advances, an integration returns.

Combine both perspectives before filling dashboards with numbers nobody uses.

03

Make follow-up part of the product

An alert without an owner is noise. Agree who responds, what is serious enough to wake someone up and which information belongs in a runbook.

Monitoring becomes a way to keep delivering with more calm, not one more layer added at the end.
