The local foundation in one minute
Local SEO helps search engines understand which business is relevant to someone in a particular area. For a Belgian SME, it rests on three connected sources: a clear website, a complete business profile and credible mentions or reviews beyond the company’s own site.
A collection of near-identical municipality pages is not required. One strong regional page with genuine context is usually more useful than twenty pages where only the place name changes.
The local triangle
| Element | What needs to be clear? | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Website | Services, base, service area and contact route | Repeating place names unnaturally |
| Business profiles | Exact name, category, phone, website and area | Different details on Google and Bing |
| External confirmation | Relevant reviews, partners and local mentions | Buying links or reviews without a real relationship |
1. Make local context useful
A regional page should say more than “we work in Flemish Brabant”. Explain how collaboration works, where meetings can happen, which companies are a good fit and which cases demonstrate the approach. Mention Lennik and Pajottenland where they add context, not in every heading.
The page should also provide clear routes to the main service, projects and contact details. Local context then has a genuine role in the website rather than existing solely for a query.
2. Keep company details consistent
Use the same spelling of JF-ICT, phone number, website and location details everywhere. That includes the website, Google Business Profile, Bing Places, LinkedIn and relevant Belgian business listings.
A business profile should reflect reality: no virtual offices, invented branches or municipalities where no location exists. Google publishes guidelines for representing a business.
3. Earn genuine local confirmation
Ask clients for an honest review after a completed milestone. Do not offer rewards or secretly filter out dissatisfied clients first. A review is more useful when the client explains the problem solved in their own words.
Relevant external links may come from a client case, partner, professional network or credible local directory. The objective is credible confirmation of a relationship, not maximum link volume.
Local checklist
- The company base and service area are visible on the website.
- Contact details match across the site and business profiles.
- The regional page contains distinct explanations and links to evidence.
- Google Business Profile and Bing Places are verified.
- Clients receive a neutral review request after completed work.
- Hours and availability remain current.
- Search performance is reviewed by region, not only by brand name.
What JF-ICT handles during a website project
JF-ICT builds the regional and technical website foundation: clear location context, internal links, metadata, crawlability, relevant business details and, where appropriate, LocalBusiness data matching what visitors can see.
JF-ICT does not automatically manage every external profile, local publication or review programme on an ongoing basis. Those activities require account access, client communication and lasting ownership by the business.
